The first symposium  examined developments in freedom of conscience and dissent in public in Europe before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Keynote speaker was Edward Lucas, senior editor at The Economist.

The second symposium analysed the role of conscience and dissent in bringing about the fall of the Berlin Wall. Keynote speaker was Harald Wydra, from Cambridge University UK.

The changing role of conscience and dissent in Europe since 1989 was the topic addressed by the third symposium, which took place in London in May 2015. Keynote speakers were Dr. Martin Meenagh Tutor in History, and Barrister, and Dr. Gunnar Beck, from SOAS London.

FINAL SYMPOSIUM – BRUSSELS 2015

 

The final event will be the occasion to discuss all the themes addressed by the previous symposia with distinguished representatives from academia, civil society and politics. It will take place at Cervantes Institute on December 10th.
